Annex of Rethymno

A building of significant cultural and architectural value, serving as a pilot site for the application of innovative energy efficiency techniques.
Interventions are being implemented to enhance the building’s energy performance. Lighting is upgraded with LED systems, heating and cooling systems operate more efficiently, and dedicated sensors record energy consumption in real time.

The Annex of Rethymno is located on Evlygias Hill, less than one kilometre from the city centre, within a plot of 11,640 sq.m. This distinctive complex, designed in the early 1970s by Pavlos Mylonas, Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts and Academician, consists of two single-storey buildings with a total floor area of 589 sq.m., arranged around a central courtyard measuring 110 × 120.
The surrounding area includes pathways, open platforms, seating areas, and rich vegetation, offering a natural environment ideal for artistic creation and hosting cultural events.

Brief description of the interventions
At the Annex of Rethymno, the project interventions include the replacement of windows and doors and the upgrade of lighting with LED technology, aiming to reduce energy consumption and improve the building’s usability conditions, while preserving its architectural features.
