Joint solutions for the energy upgrade of cultural and historic buildings in Greece and Cyprus

Welcome to
Educon University

Our project aims to bring Greece and Cyprus together around a shared vision: preserving cultural heritage through modern, energy-efficient practices.
Through the project, Greece and Cyprus collaborate, exchange know-how, and implement solutions that respect the unique character of each monument.
Three emblematic cultural sites - Mykonos, Rethymno, and Nicosia - are being energy-upgraded and serve as living examples of innovative techniques that can be replicated in other buildings across the region.
The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national resources of Greece and Cyprus, within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Greece–Cyprus 2021–2027 Programme.

By the numbers:
•    3 pilot applications
•    49 actions
•    20 new action plans
•    1 Living Lab platform

POLITIZO ENERGEIAKA is a cross-border cooperation project between Greece and Cyprus, implemented under the Interreg VI-A Programme. The project addresses the common challenge of improving the energy efficiency of cultural and historic buildings, while fully respecting their architectural, historical and regulatory constraints.
Through the development of a common methodological framework and a digital living-lab platform, the project supports decision-making for sustainable renovation and energy upgrading of monuments and cultural infrastructures.
The approach is tested through three pilot applications in emblematic cultural buildings in Mykonos, Rethymno and Nicosia, serving as demonstrative examples that can be replicated across the cross-border area.
POLITIZO ENERGEIAKA aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation, enhance technical capacity and contribute to long-term energy efficiency planning for cultural heritage in Greece and Cyprus.
